Big beef burger.

LOVE hamburgers... tasty Tasty TASTY.
Like hamburgers?

I really like them - so I made my own and enjoyed them during the experiment.

I'm not much for measuring anything but I have found that measuring the burgers out does make for an even amount per burger. Do it by eye if you don't have a set of kitchen scales...

Big B***ard beef burgers.
(makes 4 burgers - one burger per person)

In a mixing bowl:

  • Grate one carrot
  • Add about 500 grams (17 ounces) of ground beef mince.*
  • 1 big teaspoon of yellow mustard.
  • A good dose of ground black pepper
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of paprika (more or less depending on how spicy you want it)
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of curry powder (optional)
  • 1 egg (whatever size you have handy)
  • (I would also add 1/2 a medium brown onion to it, if my partner wasn't allergic)
  • Mix well, to make sure all the ingredients are combined.

Then...

  • Measure out into 4 evenly sized balls.
  • Throw them in the pan and cook them as you would a normal hamburger, but 5 to 6 minutes each side should do. I usually lob them into the pan then make the Monster salad, turn the burgers over then tidy up.

Serve with Monster Salad and a squirt of tomato ketchup.

If you are cooking for less that 4, kept in the fridge the raw burgers will keep for the following day OR you can freeze them and grab them out when necessary. OR cook them all and have one cold for lunch.

*Lean or not, but make sure it is all meat, not hamburger booster.

Again... I had a starting weight more than 100 kilograms (220 pounds) if I was starting at 90kgs (200 pounds) I might consider splitting this in to 5 or maybe 6 serves.

Start thinking about how much you REALLY need and adjust accordingly.

It doesn't work the other way though... this is a maximum serving size for the experiment. If you have a starting weight of 200 kilograms (440 pounds) that doesn't mean you have to pile on double this amount.
